Carlean Lettings is an award winning residential letting agency. We cover all aspects of residential lettings and property management but pride ourselves on doing things differently – the Carlean way.

We take our time matching tenants with properties and once they are settled we manage the property and the tenancy to exceptional standards.

As a landlord myself I am fully aware of what a landlord wants but I also ensure our tenants are respected and given excellent service. Balancing both sets of expectations takes experience and knowledge and I have both.

The lettings and property management industry is often portrayed as being underhand, charging extortionate fees, secretive and not doing very much for the money they are paid, there is a lot of distrust. At Carlean we work hard to show we are different, to show there is middle ground between managing your property yourself or handing it over to a faceless high street agency. What made you enter the Kent Women in Business Awards?

I entered last year and was runner up in the Business Woman of the Year category and was over the moon to win that category (5 years +) this year. Completing the entry form really makes you think about your business. You look at where you started, where you are now and how you got there. You look at all the things you have achieved and the things you still want to achieve. Regardless of whether you win anything completing the form is a fantastic exercise for your business. The KWIBA are very prestigious and it is fantastic for any business to be a finalist, runner-up or winner. The event is always very inspiring but most of all great fun. I am very proud to be a KWIB Award Winner.

What advice would you give to someone looking to enter these Awards?

Just go for it. You have absolutely nothing to loose. Entering will give you clarity about your business and even if you are not shortlisted go along on the evening, support other Kent Women in Business – you will come away feeling inspired and motivated.
