Hilary Steel launching the magazine 2013

As we get ready to launch the 6th Kent Women in Business awards in October it has given us the chance to reflect on what has already been an amazing five years. From small beginnings, Hilary and Sue launched the first awards in 2013, the same date they launched the first Kent Women in Business Magazine. Looking back over previous awards it’s wonderful to remember what these are all about…

The world of business and commerce is ever changing, but at the root of all these changes remains one compelling factor. Women in business really do support each other and encourage others to grow and develop. Some entrants involved in the early days now join the judging panel, businesses are working together and also celebrating successes together,

“I have said it many times, the business community in Kent has a heart beat and these awards only go to prove this theory” Hilary Steel, founder and host. “I am as proud to be involved in this year as I was right at the beginning and it’s great to see how people have evolved over the years.”

The categories are currently being confirmed to ensure they are up to date with sectors within the county. The judging panel is being selected and we are ready to accept nominations from Monday 2nd October. The dates for the 2018 awards are as follows;

  • 2nd October, nominations open
  • 26th January, nominations close
  • 9th February, forms to be returned
  • 13th February, shortlist announced
  • 9th March, CELEBRATION

What happens when I nominate someone?

Within a few days they will receive a phone call from the KWIBA team to check they accept the nomination and to explain to them what happens going forward. A member of the team is on hand throughout the process to answer any questions that aren’t covered in the accompanying notes.

Can I remain anonymous?

Yes. It’s your choice as to whether you wish your nomination to be anonymous. It’s surprising how many people do tick this option but the nominees do respect this.

Can I self-nominate?

Yes you can. You will still receive a call from one of the team to talk you through the process.

How many categories can I enter?

You can enter up to three categories that are relevant to your business or role.
